Who We Are

Kelly Brenner
B.S. Education, Bowling Green State University
Ms.Brenner earned her education degree from Bowling Green State University and taught 4th & 5th grade in the Anthony Wayne Local Schools (Toledo area) for 5 years. She has been at WCA since 2002 and considers it a privilege. Ms. Brenner developed the WCA Latin program and teaches Latin to our students, K-9. Urban outreach is also important to Kelly as she enjoys teaching Latin after school at Urban Community School.


Cathy Burns
B.A. Secondary Education, Hyles-Anderson College
Ms. Burns is the 6th grade teacher. Prior to joining the WCA staff in 2002, she taught in our grade 5, helped out with student performance opportunities, and was the ACSI Speech Meet coordination for many years. Previously she taught for the Cleveland Municipal School System. Ms. Burns is also a licensed interpreter for the deaf and contributes to WCA’s technology department and yearbook committee.



Kathy Foldesy
B.S. Education, Cleveland State University
Mrs. Foldesy is the Director of Curriculum and Instruction and teaches Grade 8 Humanities, Algebra, Pre-algebra, and Literature 6. Before coming to WCA in 2000, she began her career in public schools teaching grades 4, 5, and 6, middle school mathematics, English as a Second Language and even pre-school. She also has extensive background in youth ministry and is currently serving as a tutor for Building Hope in the City.


Jill Gaitaniella
B.S. Elementary Education, Youngstown State; M.Education, Cleveland State University
Mrs. Gaitaniella teaches Grade 5 Bible, history, math and literature. She has experience teaching at two other Christian Schools as well as serving as director of two pre-schools. She is also actively involved in the childrens ministry at her church. Favorite verses for her include Isaiah 26:3 and Nehemiah 6:3.


Lisa Halleland
B.A. Music Education, Nyack College
Mrs. Halleland teaches Music for kindergarten through 10th grade. She previously taught Kindergarten through 6th grade music in a Christian School for seven years. Teaching general music classes, band, choir, private lessons and coaching volleyball kept her busy until her daughters were born. In her spare time, she loves to write music, play volleyball, and spend time with her husband, daughters, family, and friends. Her and her husband lead worship at Grace Church and love sharing in their love for music and sports. Her favorite verses include Philippians 3:7-8 and Psalm 96.

Jake Hardy
B.S. Education, Malone University
Mr. Hardy teaches Physical Education/Health and also serves as the Athletic Director.  Prior to coming to WCA in 2015, he taught in the Cleveland City Schools. He also played football at Malone University and is excited to continue building the athletics program at WCA. Life verses include John 15:5 and Psalm 27:1.


Jason Hindall
B.S. Physics, Cleveland State University
Mr. Hindall teaches Grade 6 homeroom and Bible, 5-8 Science, 7-8 logic, & 8th grade geometry. Before coming to WCA in 2009, he was in research and development with silicone and carbon based material. He is also involved in children’s ministry at his church.


Heather MacLeod
B.S. Interpersonal Communications, Ohio University; M.A. Education/Reading, Baldwin-Wallace University
Ms. MacLeod teaches grade 2. Before coming to WCA in 2013, she taught kindergarten for 11 years, served as Early Childhood Specialist for 5 years at Discovery World, and as Reading Specialist at Old Brooklyn Montessori School. She served on praise teams for area churches for 14 years. Life verses include Phil. 4:13 and Jeremiah 17:8.


tonyAnthony Masevice
B.S. Systems Analysis, Miami University; M.S. Business/Engineering, Dartmouth College
Mr. Masevice serves as the Director of Finance. He has 15 years experience in school finance, most recently at two Christian schools, and previously at the Cleveland Municipal School District. Mr. Masevice leads the small group ministry at his church and his interests include road cycling. His favorite Bible verse (at present) is 1 John 4:16


Sarah Mason
B.A. Fine Art & Multi-Age Education, University of Mount Union
Miss Mason teaches Art for grades K-6 and serves on the Children’s Ministry leadership team at her church. Throughout various roles in her education career, she’s had the pleasure of teaching studio art, art history, ballet, cognitive processing skills, literacy, and creative writing. Prior to joining WCA, Miss Mason also extended her professional experience into the social expressions industry at American Greetings Corporation for 9 years where she developed language for connection product, innovation content, & marketing material as a writer & editor. Miss Mason believes strongly in the importance of Art Education and feels that it’s her life purpose to connect children more closely to God and to each other through the beauty, the wonder, and the exploration of art. Chai Tea is an absolute weakness of hers and she especially loves kayaking! When it comes to her own personal expression of art, Miss Mason enjoys working with the calming elements of watercolor whenever she can – though there’s something wonderful about the messiness of charcoal drawing that’s also become a treasured passion of hers. If she had to choose just a couple of favorites among favorite verses, they would be Isaiah 43:19 and Ephesians 2:10 because they beautifully illustrate our Heavenly Father as Creator and Provider of all good things.


Michelle Maynard
B.A. from Hiram College in Music Education.  She taught two years at Vermilion Intermediate School. She then stayed home for 16 years to home school her four children.  During that time she has taught private piano and voice lessons in her home and directed Christmas musicals at church.  She loves spending time with her husband and children and traveling with them.



Amy Mitchell
B.S. Education, Bowling Green State University. Majors in Elementary Education, Learning Disabilities, and Developmentally Handicapped
Mrs. Mitchell, who is teaching Second Grade at WCA, loves children of all ages. Prior to joining the WCA staff, Mrs. Mitchell has been a homeschooling mom for nearly 20 years. During that time she developed and taught elementary science classes for HEARTS for Jesus Christ. Before her career as a homeschooler, Mrs. Mitchell was an elementary special education teacher. Most recently, she has worked in early childhood education. Some verses that hold special meaning for her are Psalm 18:2 and Isaiah 40:28-31.


Timothy Piazza
B.S. Education/Missions, Crown College; M.A. Christian Counseling, NIU; Ed.S. Education Specialist, Liberty University
Mr. Piazza has been a 6th grade teacher, varsity basketball coach, counselor and principal in Christian education since 2007. He has experience in K-12 private school accreditation and the development of ESL and special education programs. Mr. Piazza has received and been involved in Christian education for 27 years (preschool to graduate school) and believes Christian education is the greatest gift a child could ever receive. He enjoys family time, basketball, kayaking, birding, hunting, strength training, and biblical counseling. His favorite Scripture is Matthew 10:39.


Brigid W. Plummer
B.S Geology, University of Cincinnati., Catechist Certificate, Diocese of Cleveland
Mrs. Plummer homeschooled four children from 1997-2013. She worked for HEARTS FOR JESUS CHRIST on the Leadership Board and taught: Pre-k, Middle School, and High School classes, from 1998-2013. Brigid is an active member of St Clarence Church in North Olmsted, teaching Catechism to 2nd and 8th grades, chaperoning youth group activities and participating in adult Bible studies. She loves spending time with her family. Life Verse: Psalm 18:1-3, currently praying with Mt 14:28-29.

Emilie Sandham
B.A. Biblical Studies and Languages, The Master’s University; M.A. Early Childhood Education, Grand Canyon University
Mrs. Sandham first experienced teaching as an ESL teacher in Bolivia and later in the Czech Republic, but she always hoped to teach young children. She student taught under the supervision of Mary Wicks and was able to practice what she learned as a private teacher in Fiji, where God confirmed that He was leading her back to WCA. She is a former student of WCA and her love for learning and especially for grammar was born out of that time. She teaches First Grade. She loves the ocean and her favorite book is Jane Eyre. Her favorite Scripture is Nehemiah 8:9-12.


Caleb Sasser
B.A. Classical Liberal Arts: Pedagogy from Patrick Henry College
Mr. Sasser teaches third grade and upper school humanities at WCA. Prior to  joining the WCA staff in 2017 he taught fourth grade at Ad Fontes Academy in Centreville, VA. While at Ad Fontes he earned his permanent teaching certification with the Association of Classical and Christian Schools (ACCS). Caleb enjoys spending time with his family, working in his garden and woodshop, taking long walks, and reading good books. He is excited to be serving and worshiping the Lord Jesus Christ with everyone at WCA.


Michele Schoenherr
B.A. Psychology, and Multiple Subject Educational Credential from California
Mrs. Schoenherr teaches the fourth grade and serves as the academic adviser for the Cheer Team. She has extensive experience teaching in public, private, and Christian school settings and has served in various leadership capacities in ministries for children and women. Mrs. Schoenherr is passionate about educating students from a classical, Christian worldview. Lamentations 3:21-24 and Psalm 71:14-16 are favorite verses.


Kourtney Sladek
B.S. Early Childhood Education, Baldwin-Wallace Unviersity
Mrs. Sladek is the Pre-Kindergarten teacher and previously taught Kindergarten at WCA for 3 years. She completed the Great Books Honors program in 2006, a Classical Honors college at Faulkner University in Alabama. She has led children’s Sunday school and worship classes for 8 years and serves as a mentor with an online ministry, Restored by Love. Her favorite verses include Corinthians 12:9 & Psalm 51:10-12


Angie Stein
B.S. Education, Bowling Green State University
Miss Stein is the Office Manager and Admissions Coordinator. She came to WCA in 2015 after teaching Language Arts for 7 years in public schools, mostly the 7th grade. Her favorite verses are Proverbs 3:5-6.



Wendy Thompson
B.A. Elementary Education, Calvin College; M.A. Education/Reading Diagnosis, John Carroll University
Mrs. Thompson teaches kindergarten. After graduating, she taught for 1 year in West Chicago, 2nd grade and then 7 years in 3rd grade in Mayfield, Ohio. She has 5 children who she home schooled for 12 years. Mrs. Thompson was the Junior Church Director at Scranton Road Bible Church in Cleveland for 17 years and also taught writing and poetry classes to children ages 5-12 at Hearts for Jesus Christ for 7 years before coming to WCA.


 Jim Whiteman
B.S., Bowling Green State University; M.A. Education, Kent State University
Mr. Whiteman came to WCA as headmaster in 2011. He has 18 years experience as elementary/middle school principal in two area private schools and ten additional years of teaching. Mr. Whiteman also has experience as the chief development officer of a Christian rescue mission. He is very involved in a local ministry for international college students and orphanages in Kenya and India. Life verses include 2 Peter 1:3-9.


Mary Wicks
B.S. and M.S., Purdue University; Degree in Secondary Education, University of Hawaii
Mrs. Wicks has taught at colleges, high schools and middle schools . The Lord eventually called her to young children, and she received a teaching license in early childhood education from Cleveland State. She teaches first grade at WCA and her favorite verse is Proverbs 3:5-6.


Leah Wilson
B.S. Chemistry, Hillsdale College; M. Ed Integrated Curriculum and Instruction, Covenant College
Miss Wilson has taught math and science in various Christian and international schools since 2002. She enjoys spending time with family, traveling, exploring the outdoors, cooking and singing in choirs. Studying microbes, music, or enjoying nature, Miss Wilson tries to infect her students with curiosity and awe. “I will sing to the LORD as long as I live; I will sing praise to my God while I have being.” (Psalm 104:33).

Kristen Zuccola
B.S. Education/English, Ohio University; M.A. English, Cleveland State University
Mrs. Zuccola teaches Humanities for grades 7-11, including Bible, History, and Literature.  She also teaches Composition, Logic, and Rhetoric. Prior to coming to WCA in 2015, she taught English, Math, and Social Studies at Lawrence School; GED English and night classes at Polaris Career Center; English at Fairview High School; and College Composition as an adjunct instructor for Cuyahoga Community College.  She enjoys spending time with her husband, four children, and extended family, serving at church, reading, cooking, and hiking. Her favorite verse is Luke 10:27 “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind, and your neighbor as yourself.”
